lynde mott

I am in awe today!
I just got back from Hidden Garden Tour with some friends and one house just blew me away. As soon as I got home I Googled the home owner's name. Maybe some of you have heard of her, Lynde Mott. This is what I found out....

"Lynde Madsen Mott graduated from Brigham Young University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design/Illustration. She has a passion for church history, historical clothing and creating visually accurate images of the past. She has become know as the “Quilt Lady” since she has done so many wonderful pieces with very detailed quilts. She and her husband, Randy, have built a home in Pleasant Grove, UT. She is anxiously engaged in turning it into a memorial to past pioneers with hand painted murals and wonderful furniture pieces they have collected. They share their home with seven-year-old twins, Jonathon and Daniel, and 3 year old, Isaac."

Usually the Garden Tour is just a tour of beautiful gardens but, the Mott family opened up their home for tours as well to see her "memorial to past pioneers" come to life. The pictures I took hardly do her beautiful art justice so try to imagine how vivid the walls of her home were!

Front porch.

Entry way: A portrait of the Salt Lake Temple that spills onto the actual wall it hangs on.

To the left, the study.

A close up of the table pictured above.
Lynde has hand painted, then sealed every table in her home.

To the right, the Family Room. A mural of Nauvoo covers all four walls.

Libby's favorite was the little beehive room that was off the bug room one of her sons stays in.

The boy's Bathroom!!!

Above the toilet!!!

Even the Chicken Coop out back couldn't escape the paintbrush. :)

This is about 1/3 of the pictures I took. Literally every wall, in ever room, on all three floors was a hand painted mural. She can never sell her house. Never! It was so incredible. My head is still spinning.

WOW!!! I can't even imagine the time it took her to do just one room let alone the whole house! What a talented lady! I LOVE that tile of the beehive as you enter the house the most! So beautiful ... and I am loving cute little Libby and her big smile behind the passie! xoxox

It was a fun day and your pictures look great!

You know how on Modern Family there is a mural of Mitch & Cam above Lily's crib? Well, I wonder if this lady would paint a mural of Andrew and I similar to the Modern Family one? ;)
